The WVU Reed College of Media ( formerly P. I. Reed School of Journalism) seeks a caring, energetic and student-centered undergraduate student services advisor to serve as part of a Student Services team that reports to the Assistant Dean. Primary duties include: working with students to plan their course schedules and facilitate their academic planning; monitoring advisees’ academic progress to ensure compliance with College and University academic regulations and standards; advising new freshmen and transfer students at orientation activities; helping with special events such as graduation, honors ceremonies and visitation days; teaching orientation and academic success workshops, as needed; representing the College both on and off campus to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process; counseling prospective applicants on the admissions process; planning and coordination of various student visit programs; implementing the ongoing strategic communications with prospective students, high school counselors, and college admissions organizations.

A successful candidate should demonstrate strong initiative, good communication skills, the ability to work well with a variety of publics, and the ability to efficiently manage several projects simultaneously.  The ability to problem-solve, make decisions in a timely matter, and analyze admissions and student record data is also important. The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in a relevant field and at least two years of relevant professional experience.

Salary will be competitive for the State of West Virginia Higher Education and commensurate with qualifications.
