The Office of Information Technology at West Virginia University is seeking a Director of Project Management and Planning (Director.251). This position will provide the leadership and vision to manage and grow the project management office. Reporting to the Associate Provost and Chief Information Officer, the Director will work extensively with university, college, and administrative information technology units to manage large, cross-cutting IT projects, as well as, facilitate the adoption of core project management and planning processes following industry recognized standards as issued through the Project Management Institute. The Director will collect feedback on project management needs, potential use-case scenarios, and user priorities to be integrated in the future direction for project management and support. The Director will implement project management best practices to meet project management and planning needs while improving project quality and customer acceptance. The Director will serve as liaison to distributed project management groups, campus IT units, faculty, staff, and administrative groups through proactive engagement. The Director will oversee and assure the success of projects that reinvent the processes and standards used to repeatedly produce substantial improvements in service reliability, efficiency, and customer service. The Director will work closely with other information technology units and peers at other institutions.        
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Engineering, MIS, Business Administration or other appropriate discipline, with an MS degree or MBA being desirable. Project/Program Management Institute (PMI), Project Management Professional (PMP), ITIL and/or other related education and certification is preferred. Experience with performance based quality or performance measurement systems (eg. Six Sigma, ISO, Portfolio Management, and CMM) are desirable.

Salary will be competitive for the State of West Virginia Higher Education and commensurate with qualifications.
