The College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (CPASS) at West Virginia University, under the Dean’s office, is recruiting applicants for the position of Director of the International Center for Performance Excellence (ICPE) and its publishing division, FiT Publishing. The Director will be responsible for acquisitions and marketing oversight of FiT Publishing’s academic textbooks, reference books, trade books, academic journals, and other publishing products and will travel to and participate in professional association conferences to showcase FiT’s publishing products. The Director is expected to work in accordance with the CPASS strategic plan and serve on the CPASS International Advisory Committee. The Director will report directly to the Dean’s office and will also be responsible for the overall management of the ICPE, including budgeting oversight and supervision of the unit’s staff.

Professional Qualifications: Qualifications include at least a Bachelor’s degree in business-related disciplines, sport and exercise sciences, communications, or related fields. Applicants must also possess at least five years of experience working in a publishing environment, preferably relating specifically to academic publishing, and two years of supervision experience. The successful candidate will also be required to have excellent writing skills and oral, interpersonal, and organizational communication skills as well as superior skills in problem solving, organization, persuasion, and time management. The candidate will be expected to have the ability to develop and cultivate relationships with scholars in the sport and exercise sciences, physical education, and other disciplines. The successful candidate is also expected to maintain professional business relationships with buyers, distributors, and other vendors utilized in the publishing industry. The candidate should also have demonstrated knowledge of acquisitions and marketing of publishing products. The successful candidate will have an active role in furthering the internationalization of CPASS.
