Can I be a Mountaineer Temp more than once?
Yes, you may be a Mountaineer Temp more than once. You may not, however, work as a Temp for more than 8.5 months in a 12-month period. You may have multiple positions in an 8.5-month period, though (i.e. 2 month position, then 6 month position).
If you are currently working a temporary position, you may not be considered for another temporary position unless your current assignment is expiring. You are, however, encouraged to apply for regular staff or faculty positions at any time should you be interested.
What benefits am I eligible for as a Mountaineer Temp?
As a Mountaineer Temp, you are eligible to enroll in the Affordable Care Act, as well as Basic Life insurance coverage.
With your Mountaineer Temp ID, you will have free access to the Mountain Line Bus service and the WVU PRT, as well as access to some training classes, Lynda.com training, the WVU Libraries, and an option to purchase a membership at the Student Rec Center.
How do I get my Mountaineer Temp ID card?
Every Mountaineer Temp must have a Mountaineer Temp ID card. You may get your card when you process for payroll. If not, you will be able to get it when you attend your scheduled Onboarding Session. Additionally, you may contact Mountaineer Card Services at 304.293.CARD (2273).
NOTE: Your ID card must be returned to the Mountaineer Temps office, located on the second floor of One Waterfront Place, after completion of your assignment.
What do I do when my assignment is coming to an end?
When your assignment is scheduled to end, you will need to return your Mountaineer Temps ID Card to the Mountaineer Temps office, located on the second floor of One Waterfront Place. You will also be evaluated at the end of your assignment and will be asked to complete an exit interview via email.
NOTE: Should you wish to resign from your position before it is scheduled to end, you must submit a letter of resignation at least two weeks prior to your last working day.
How do I apply for regular, full-time employment?
The Mountaineer Temps program is not a temps-to-hire program. If you’re interested in applying for regular, full-time employment, please visit our jobs page. Choose the “Staff” button, then choose the “External candidates apply here” option.
If you are leaving a temporary position early, you must give at least two weeks’ notice.
NOTE: Do NOT use the Internal candidates portal as a temp. If you do, you will lose access to your WVUHire profile once your temp assignment ends.
