The Pathology Laboratory for Translational Medicine (PLTM) is seeking qualified applicants for a pathologist assistant position that blends a variety of professional office, pathology laboratory, tissue bank, and patient care setting work experiences under the direction of its Medical Director. The PLTM provides out-reach pathology services nationally and internationally that require independently travel, which at times is fast-paced, extensive (up to 3 weeks/month) and requires flexibility with short notice weekday, weekend and night time scheduling changes. The incumbent will be responsible for completing major laboratory operational assignments, including leading or participating on off-site pathology teams that receive, examine and process fresh human and animal tissue specimens. This position involves all aspects of the projects from development, implementation, tissue handling, data collection, analysis and report writing.
Applicants should possess the following abilities and skills: Ability to clearly and concisely communicate, excellent interpersonal and professional judgment skills, attention to detail, multi-task and functionally organize projects; supervise group travel worldwide; function as a team member; operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume complex work environment , good writing and data analysis skills, and ability to train other staff, medical residents/fellows, graduate level professional students, and clients.
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific discipline with laboratory course work or a non-science focus with two years of full time equivalent work experience in a similar position.
